Thinking about a cruise along the Kimberley Coast in Western Australia?
Want a unique adventure for you, exploring Western Australia’s incredible Kimberley Coast?
Well, you’re in the right place!
Let the team from Kimberley Cruise Specialists share their 70+ years of experience with you to make sure your Kimberley cruise dreams exceed even your wildest expectations.
We Pioneered Kimberley Cruising
Kimberley Cruise Specialists’ experience goes all the way back to the very first expedition cruises operated in Western Australia on the remarkable Kimberley Coast.
It was in 1995 that our Chairman Tony Briggs was approached by US-based tour operator Zeghram Expeditions with the ‘crazy’ idea to develop an expedition cruise in the far north of Western Australia.
It was a huge endeavour at that time, requiring a pioneering spirit and an incredible sense of adventure.
As it happened, Tony and Vicki had been successfully operating Coral Princess Cruises for over ten years on the Great Barrier Reef, and the idea of expanding into such an uncharted and unknown part of Australia was both appealing and exciting.
So it came to be that in 1996 Coral Princess Cruises operated the very first full coastal cruise of the Kimberley in conjunction with Zegrahm Expeditions.
Tony recalls those early cruises fondly, they were real expeditions and so little was known about cruising the remote north-west coast.
Indeed, many of the key sites featured in today’s typical Kimberley cruise expeditions can be traced back to Tony’s early exploration on those very first Kimberley cruises.
From those pioneering Kimberley cruises up until the sale of Coral Princess Cruises in late 2014, Tony and Vicki had operated almost 500 ten-night cruises between Darwin and Broome, an unmatched level of experience operating expedition cruises in Australia’s north west.
Along with the rest of our team, we have over 70 year’s first-hand experience selling and operating Kimberley cruises. That’s a level of expertise and knowledge you can trust!
We know what makes a great Kimberley Cruise
Because of our unrivalled experience in not only operating - but also selling - Kimberley cruises for over 20 years, we know Kimberley Cruising better than anyone.
We’ve got the insider knowledge to understand what sets a good Kimberley cruise apart from a great one!
We know all of the ‘must see’ sites and activities to include on your Kimberley cruise - and you will share our enthusiasm when we tell you all about them.
You can rest assured that when you book with Kimberley Cruise Specialists you will experience the great icons; from King George Falls in the North, to Raft Point and Bigge Island, Mitchell Falls, Bradshaw and Wandjina Art and King Cascades in the centre, to Montgomery Reef and Horizontal Falls in south, we’ll make sure you don’t miss a thing.
We use our knowledge to feature only the best ships and cruises
At Kimberley Cruise Specialists we’re picky about the expedition ships we work with.
Our hand-picked portfolio of Kimberley cruise ships offers only the very best of the best.
These days, there’s so many operators plying the waters of the Kimberley Coast that it’s hard to know which cruises really offer the best expeditionary experience.
But, when you speak to our Kimberley specialists, they will cut through all the marketing buzz (some of the larger operators spend more on marketing in one day than the smaller family-owned operators spend in an entire year) to pinpoint the very best ships and itineraries.
We also only work with fully-accredited operators, with strong safety records and, where possible, eco-accreditation.
We believe in supporting local, Australian operators where we can.
Australian-flagged ships such as Coral Discoverer, True North, Coral Expeditions I, Great Escape and Kimberley Quest offer - we think - the very best Kimberley experiences.
Their Australian crews are local to the region, know the Kimberley better than anyone and they are experts in their field.
They’re not just here for a couple of months of the year before continuing on their global schedules. These Australian companies live and breathe the Kimberley like us!
An example of how we use our insider knowledge to make sure you select the best Kimberley itinerary possible is the iconic King Cascades waterfall.
These falls are one of the most breathtaking sites in the Kimberley, yet many of the larger (100+ passenger) ships are unable to offer their guests the opportunity to see them.
Do you know why?
Give us a call and we’ll tell you all about it.
We listen to you and work with you
Picking the right ship and itinerary in the Kimberley is so important, and that’s why we listen to you and work with you.
At the start, we won’t tell you which ship is best, as that will depend on your own likes and preferences.
After spending some time chatting with you about what you want to achieve we will offer you a selection of the very best itineraries that meet your needs for YOU to choose from.
So whether you want to see the majesty of the Kimberley’s waterfalls or maybe the whale migration, we’ll tell you the best times to travel.
