When planning your 2019 Kimberley cruises you might want to check to see if your stay in Broome coincides with the amazing natural phenomenon that is 'Staircase to the Moon'.
The 'staircase' is only visible two or three nights a month, when the full moon rises across the exposed tidal flats of Roebuck Bay to create the impression of a staircase leading to the moon.
The phenomenon is best watched from either the Mangrove Hotel (book early for full moon nights as the hotel is a very popular vantage point and can become quite expensive) or the Town Beach, which - not to be confused with Cable Beach - is located in town at the end of Robinson Street. At Town Beach during the event you can also take in all the colour and fun of the Staircase Markets. Peruse colourful local stalls offering handmade jewellery, crafts, clothing and homewares, before sitting back under the stars to enjoy the sounds of local musicians whilst sampling the tastes of Broome cuisine.
